So we climbed up the hill of Kauffman because it was the highest point we could quickly think of facing east. Waiting for that gorgeous blue moon, the second moon of August, and one that was supposed to be larger than usual because it is 17,000 miles closer. Such excitement. Oh my!
For starters, he said it would be up at 7:30. Whoops! Didn't need to rush afterall. It was actually 8:30. Oh well. The Kauffman's grass is very nice and it was cool and a perfect way to celebrate the last day of August. So now it's 8:37 p.m.: where is the fricking moon? Look over there, it's getting lighter. The moon was near he kept telling me. I had doubt in my heart.
Ahhh, at last. 8:38 it begins. . . Good man! 8:39, more visible. And finally, the moon is smiling at us. 8:41, it's fully up and gazing over Kansas City serenely. It is orange, not the white that our slideshow pictures mostly show.
As Cute pointed out to me, I would never be doing this with anyone else. I had to agree. So I did get the moon after all. And you got a bonus blog. Yes, such excitement!
