Celebrating the 4th of July with You

Well, it's cloudy, raining, and the forecast is NOT good. So as an extra blog, in case you're extra bored like we are, we thought we'd show you fireworks.

These are not the kind you usually see. We saw those last night in Blue Springs and were counting on more tonight . . but we'll see. Those forecasts are so often wrong.

Instead, since Cute always buys fireworks for his grandchild's big display, we went to Riverside and chose, from among several, the tent nearest to RedX, a worthy trip in itself.

In case you haven't bought fireworks in a while, here's what we saw. For starters,

a large selection of whimsically named, at least, or shaped, explosives.

Since Cute isn't interested in ladyfingers or snakes or sparklers, I was introduced to the truly insanely expensive world of big deal effects. The owner of this fireworks "stand" did tell us that prices were better this year because tariffs had been nullified. That was a big help.

I learned that technology, beyond drones, can be helpful in the expanding fireworks world.

And of course, our trip wasn't complete without a foray into RedX where I simply wouldn't let Cute buy any more themed merchandise. He was not necessarily grateful though he did replenish a wine bottle or two which is why many people still go to this no longer funky little store.

So despite the weather, enjoy our 250th! It will only come once in our lifetimes!
